The story of Taekwang Industrial represents the history of fiber and petrochemical industries in Korea. TAEKWANG , established in 1950, has since developed into the only comprehensive fiber and textile corporation in Korea that produces chemical fibers, yarns, and fabrics. During the mid-1990s, Taekwang Industrial expanded into the Petrochemical industry including PTA, Propylene, AN, etc. to complete a vertically integrated structure that aligned petrochemicals-fibers-fabrics for the very first time in Korea. In 2012, the company became the first corporation in Korea to commence commercial production for carbon fiber which led Taekwang Industrial to establish a foothold as an advanced material producer.
