AU Private Equity Venture Capital Club
We dig into how investors actually think: how they find opportunities, size markets, and decide what deserves a check, covering topics like market traction, financial information, unit economics, founding team dynamics, and revenue multiples. Meetings blend quick lessons with open discussion and real examples so you can connect the dots from idea to investment decision without getting lost in jargon. Throughout the semester, we run fast, team-based mini pitch competitions with prizes. You will read a short brief, pick one company, and deliver a 60 to 90 second verbal pitch with no slides, anchored by a simple thesis, one key number, and a clear risk with a mitigation. Judges give quick feedback on decision quality, customer and buyer insight, and financial logic, and top teams win cash or other prizes Our flagship event is the Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC), a national, experiential tournament where students step into the role of venture capitalists. Teams review real startup materials, meet founders, ask tough questions in live Q and A, and build an investment memo and term sheet under time pressure. It is as close to real world investing as it gets on campus, and a standout chance to practice diligence, valuation thinking, and partner style decision making while networking with industry judges and alumni.
