Augsburg Diamond Technology GmbH

Augsburg Diamond Technology is specialized in the synthesis of large-size single-crystal diamonds. In order to grow the oriented diamond on foreign substrates, heteroepitaxy is applied. Over the past two decades, the basis of this technology was developed at the Institute of Physics at the University of Augsburg. For the first time, these crystals are available for commercial applications. Augsburg Diamond Technology is a spin-off company of the University of Augsburg. The AuDiaTec single-crystal diamond can be used for a wide range of mechanical, optical, electrical and thermal applications. Applying chemical vapor deposition, all crystals are grown on the specially developed multilayer substrate Ir/YSZ/Si. Hence, diamond crystals with an edge length of at least 20 mm are achievable. Depending on the specific application, individual characteristics regarding transparency or shading can be offered.
