Boab Health Services
Boab Health Services is a not-for-profit comprehensive primary health care organisation servicing communities across the Kimberley region in Western Australia. We provide allied health services, mental health services, and an ‘Integrated Team Care Program (ITC)' (previously Closing the Gap)'. The Allied Health team consists of podiatrists, diabetes educators, dietitians and paediatric nutritionists while the mental health team has members from a variety of disciplines including mental health nurses, psychologists, clinical psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists. The ‘ITC' team provide care coordination and service access to Aboriginal people with chronic health conditions in the Kimberley. In support of the primary health care philosophy, a holistic approach to care is promoted with a strong emphasis on health promotion, self-management and ensuring that all services and programs are culturally sensitive and appropriate. Boab Health Services has two hubs, one based in Broome and the other in Kununurra, where clinicians deliver services and outreach to communities across the Kimberley. The clinical and program staff are supported by a corporate team including finance, payroll, HR and health administration. The organisation is a proprietary limited company governed by a board of directors. Boab Health programs are funded by the WA Primary Health Alliance and the Commonwealth Government.
