Centre for Animal Referral & Emergency (CARE)

The Centre for Animal Referral & Emergency (CARE) is a veterinary specialist and 24-hour emergency centre, situated in Collingwood (3km from Melbourne CBD). CARE aims to provide gold-standard specialist and emergency veterinary care to companion animals of Victoria and beyond. Our goal is to provide diagnostic and treatment plans which achieve the best possible outcome for each case. We consider the unique requirements of each individual pet, their owners, and their primary care veterinarian. Opened in 2013, CARE is a rapidly growing centre with in-house 16-slice CT, ultrasound, digital subtraction fluoroscopy, computed radiography suite, in-house clinical pathology (serum biochemistry and blood-gas analysis, PT/APTT) and regular off-site access to MRI. We have a large specialist referral team that encompasses surgery, internal medicine, emergency and critical care, diagnostic imaging, neurology, and diabetes. Referral services are available by appointment from Monday to Friday during business hours. Our Emergency centre has a motivated team of emergency/ICU veterinarians and an exceptional group of experienced nurses and support staff, who look after their patients as if they were their own. The hospital is staffed 24 hours a day, throughout the year; no appointment is necessary if presenting to our emergency department.
