Crash Coalition
Crash Coalition (CC), originally the Black Nail Brigade, is a 501(c)3 non-profit public charity aiding individuals & families affected by a crash distracted driving. CC was founded in memory of Anita Zaffke, rear-ended & killed on her motorcycle May 2, 2009 by a motorist who was painting their nails while driving (Nail Polish Crash). We are working toward the launch of a traveling, interactive distracted driving exhibit (including realistic simulators) that can reach a mass audience in an interesting & powerful way at auto shows, state/county fairs, high schools & colleges, drivers education courses, etc. CC will serve as an advocacy group for the victims & their families affected by another motorist's negligence or recklessness. CC will tirelessly work toward legislative reform and raising awareness to create stronger laws for law enforcement and prosecutors that will stand as effective, legal deterrents for these dangerous driving behaviors. Through our membership program, C.R.A.S.H. volunteer representatives will attend court cases around the country to support victims, monitor the cases & create an effective database so we may be able to get more media interest & provide important information for legislators & others, just as early DUI advocates did by monitoring Restricted Driving Permit situations.
