DISTILLERIES COMPANY OF SRI LANKA PLC
The Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC (DCSL), is one of the most successful and esteemed corporate entities in the country. Its proud tradition, rich heritage and proven credentials have made the company a beacon of inspiration, among the business community. Over the years the organizations corporate DNA has been strengthened with the values of experience, maturity, innovation, resilience and the determination to succeed. The Excise Department of Ceylon was created in 1913, as the enforcement authority of the Excise Ordinance, and for the distribution and sale of liquor products; with the Excise Department subsequently expanding into the distillation and manufacture of liquor products. In 1974, the State Distilleries Corporation was incorporated by statute, taking over distillation and manufacture. In 1989, under a government policy decision, the State Distilleries Corporation was converted into a limited liability company. In 2017 the company celebrated 25 years of continued success as a publicly traded organization, since its acquisition by the current management at the Colombo Stock Exchange in 1992. Since this procurement DCSL has grown significantly, by increasing its annual turnover and asset base. Today, DCSL is present throughout the country, operating under the principle of providing the highest quality products.
