Eltanin Maritime Analytics
Eltanin Maritime Analytics (formerely Cinderella Smart Ports) began at the University of Oxford in early 2020. We are developing digital and artificial intelligence (AI) tools to improve the efficiency, resilience and sustainability of ports, with a particular focus on disruptions due to weather. The initiative began by winning the AI Impact Weekend, an artificial intelligence (AI) competition at the Oxford Foundry, sponsored by IBM and EY. The venture has since transformed into a startup within the incubator of Oxford University Innovation (OUI). Eltanin Maritime Analytics' goal is to help improve the efficiency and sustainability of port operations with the use of AI. The prediction of ship arrival times based on weather remains a focus of ours. We are also keen to learn how we can apply our assessment of the weather impacts to other port activities such as terminal operations, marine operations, and other consequential effects to a terminal as a result of changes to planned vessel arrivals. We are particularly interested in helping improve Short-Sea Shipping (SSS) – an area that is logistically very challenging but can be a viable and cleaner alternative to transport using road and rail. Our team consists of graduate students of the University of Oxford in various disciplines: two DPhils in engineering and artificial intelligence, an MBA at the Saïd Business School, and an MSc in Law and Finance. We are currently looking for partner ports to base our prototype development upon as well as collaborators with a deep knowledge of port operations. If you are interested in a collaboration or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us here on LinkedIn.
