Autorite Environnementale
The role of the french Environmental Authority is to issue opinions on the consideration given to the environment by major projects and planning documents called "plans and programs", and on the measures they take to avoid, reduce or compensate for their environmental impact. It submits some of them to environmental assessment after a case-by-case review. ◾Projects: roads and highways, railroads and train stations, airports, industrial and nuclear sites, power lines, etc. ◾Plans/programs: plans and schemes relating to energy, water, air, risks, urban planning, financing programs and contracts, etc... 👉 It drafts notes to improve the consideration of certain environmental issues (infrastructure noise, Natura 2000, road or urban development infrastructures).
