Famous Hamburger
Our story is one that truly depicts the American dream in all of its glory. Over 44 years ago, our grandfather, Harry Hider, returned to Lebanon from the United States bringing with him the concept of a "burger joint" to a city called Badaro. He called the restaurant "Little White Castle." As business began to boom, so did the bombs from the civil war which began to intensify. He then decided to move the restaurant to a safer location in Downtown Beirut. As Harry began to scout a specific location, people would go out of their way to say hello and tell him how much they loved his burgers. Everybody seemed to know who he was. He felt like he was Famous. Harry decided to change the restaurant name in the new location and on August of 1970 "Famous Hamburger" was born. On opening day of the new Famous Hamburger, Harry passes away and his son Feisal Hider took over to keep the flame going. As the years passed, the tragedy of Beirut began to unfold. By mid to late 1980's the city had become too dangerous to live in. The constant bombing diminished the possibility of running a profitable business. In 1989, Feisal and his family arrived in the United States in hope of finding a better life. In 1998, Feisal and his sons opened the first Famous Hamburger in Detroit, Michigan. Our burgers have traveled across the Atlantic to the Mediterranean and back to serve you nothing but the finest, freshest, never frozen, gourmet burgers and more. From all 3-generations of the Hider Family, we thank you for allowing us to share a meal and our humble story with you.
