Free Food - Jedlo pre všetkých, o.z.
Free Food-Jedlo pre všetkých (food for everyone) is an NGO fighting food waste in Slovakia since 2015. Our main goal is to reduce food waste through prevention. We are based in Bratislava, where most wealth is accumulated and hence, food surplus and waste is a significant issue here. We also cooperate with other organizations such as Food Bank Slovakia as well as with charities and facilitat food donations to people in need. We create meaningful partnerships in the third, public and private sector. Our mission statement "Let´s give food a second chance" stands behind every our activity or project. To name a few: Pretty marmelade form ugly apples (raising awareness about retail estethical norms imposed on veggies and fruit), Community fridges (food sharing), Food heroes (a series of interviews with people and organisations that fight food waste), Zero Waste brunch (wasteleless Sundays spent in a beautiful garden), Legislation (proposals and petitions to facilitate food donations), Zero Waste canteen (holistic approach to food waste reduction in school canteens). We also give lectures, webinars and workshops to raise the awareness about food waste among different populations. This year we became a proud partner in an international research and innovation project FoodRus under Horizon 2020.
