German Canadian Concourse
An Innovative Platform for Transatlantic Cooperation The German Canadian Concourse (GCC) is a leading platform for exchange on innovation between Canada and Germany. The GCC follows a unique format to connect forward-looking initiatives on both sides of the Atlantic. The unique selling proposition of the German Canadian Concourse is a truly Transatlantic Symposium hosted simultaneously in Berlin (at the premises of the Canadian Embassy) and at changing locations in Canada (Toronto, Montréal, Halifax, Ottawa/Gatineau), connected with a video link. This format allows for real-time panel discussions involving the expert communities at both venues. In conjunction, the GCC Hubs in Germany and Canada run a local supporting program consisting of a Field Trip and a Networking Reception. The GCC aims to highlight and advance German-Canadian cooperation in various technology- and innovation-oriented fields. It is a conference series in the spirit of the bilateral declaration of intent by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and Canada's National Research Council (NRC) to stimulate innovation-driven collaboration between both countries. Since its foundation in 2012, the German Canadian Concourse has established a proven track record of bringing together thought leaders and decision-makers on up-to-date innovative topics with a relevance to Canada and Germany and to match collaboration interests of its participants at the annual events. The Concourse has been acknowledged for its innovative format of addressing subjects that matter to the German-Canadian exchange. The Ambassadors of Canada and Germany are the patrons of the GCC program. The GCC maintains strong partnerships with several provinces and Bundesländer playing a central role in advancing German-Canadian relations.
