Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN)
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based non-profit foundation founded in 2002. It operates globally to combat malnutrition by enhancing access to safe and nutritious food, particularly for vulnerable populations. With its headquarters in Geneva and offices in countries with high malnutrition rates, GAIN focuses on scaling nutrition interventions through policy advocacy, technical assistance, and direct program implementation. GAIN's initiatives include food fortification, which enriches staple foods with essential micronutrients, and support for small and medium enterprises to produce affordable, nutritious foods. The organization also provides emergency nutrition products during crises and engages in advocacy to prioritize nutrition in development agendas. GAIN targets 820 million people across over 30 countries, aiming to reach 1 billion people by 2022, with a focus on women, children, and adolescents. Its mission is to improve the consumption of nutritious foods, striving for a world without malnutrition through sustainable food system transformation.
