Great Expectations International Education
Great Expectations International School is a diverse school for a diverse world. Our community of learners are taught to apply skills and academic knowledge, based on exceedingly high academic standards, through a variety of multi-disciplinary activities and projects. Students develop strong second language skills while also achieving a thorough global competency, a mastery of subject knowledge and skills, and developing unwavering strength of character that will help them pursue their dreams and become leaders in the global community. Students at Great Expectations are taught to embrace their own uniqueness, while simultaneously expanding their critical thinking and social skills. Our teaching staff embrace the "interdisciplinary teaching model", which allows our lessons to be much more than just English recitation. In traditional schools, learners are taught to listen and repeat (our head teacher likes to call this "academic regurgitation"). Our school is… different. Teachers at Great Expectations are trained to teach students how to make connections between ideas and concepts across diverse disciplinary boundaries. Learners at Great Expectations don't repeat, but are taught to create their own connections and ideas. Our students work with our faculty to develop their own interdisciplinary pathway by choosing topics that make sense to them. Every student is unique, and we embrace the uniqueness that makes our world so amazing. Great Expectation's offers thirteen (13) standardized levels of English comprehension, beginning with our Foundation class and moving all the way through 12th grade equivalent. As students move through each level they will expand their English lexicon, communication skills, and general comprehension abilities. Class sizes are kept small to encourage a close relationship between the students and faculty, ranging from one-on-one (1:1) to one-on-four (1:4).
