There are plenty electronic devices and mobile apps offering all information possible on most physical phenomenon on this planet that rely on digital displays as a visual medium. And for years this was the only elegant way to do it, unless someone was nostalgic of the old analogue gauges. The problem is environmental conditions are feelings not numbers. Thus, we learn to interpret temperature readings like 8℃ as cold and 35℃ as warm. As far as time is concerned, the situation is more complicated as every parent that has struggled explaining to their child why they still have to go to bed at 20:00 although there is still daylight outside would tell you. And this is where Ilektra Devices comes in to offer a solution by using new materials, that someone once decided to brand Intelligent or smart. These materials can alter their texture, colour and physical properties in response to external stimulus like temperature and electric current. We believe that using intelligent material as a visual medium can provide a more intuitive representation of environmental parameters compared to a number or an icon shown on a display. We are not interested on mass produced plastic products made in developing countries. We want each of our customers to have a unique, custom made product that is designed and manufactured in France by a French tax paying company founded by a Greek, married to a French, and educated in UK electronic engineer.
