Julia Lyons Foundation
The Julia Lyons Foundation was brought to life in 2018 in memory and celebration of Julia Marlane Lyons – who passed away from cystic fibrosis in 2011. This not-for-profit organisation – founded by Julia's sister, Emily – is devoted to directly helping the cystic fibrosis community by assisting those who need aid most urgently (financial or otherwise). The founder of this organisation, Emily Lyons, has been constantly inspired by the selfless, fearless spirit of her sister Julia – and by her courage and dignity – as she grappled with cystic fibrosis. Never one to watch from the sideline, Emily – a Toronto-based serial entrepreneur – has regularly forged partnerships with organisations that help those with cystic fibrosis. But now, with the Julia Lyons Foundation, Emily and her team aim to deepen their support of the cystic fibrosis community with direct financial aid, a much-needed mental health program for people with CF, and other resources. Like Julia, the vision for the Julia Lyons Foundation is beautiful and bold: to lessen the hardships of people with CF, to lift up the CF community, and to proactively fight back against this disease – so that one day, no more tears will be shed over the devastating losses inflicted by cystic fibrosis.
