Malawi Investment and Trade Centre

Malawi Investment and Trade Centre is a parastatal organisation established by an Act of parliament, the Investment and Export Promotion Act of 2012. The Act mandates MITC to operate One-Stop Service Centre for business start-ups following the merger of Malawi Export Promotion Council -MEPC and Malawi Investment Promotion Agency- MIPA. This one-stop service centre ensures that relevant permits are obtained expeditiously as well as conduct investment and export promotion in priority sectors including: • Agriculture and agro-processing • Infrastructure development • (ICT) • Forestry • Manufacturing • Mining • Energy • Tourism The Vision of MITC is to make Malawi an attractive destination for business since it exists to promote and facilitate sustainable inclusive and transformative investment and trade in Malawi MITC offers the following services Investment Promotion • Package Malawi as an attractive investment destination and present opportunities to potential investors • Attract investors into prioritised sectors that are crucial to the country's growth and development • Receive and follow-up on investor leads and enquiries One Stop Services for Investment process • Investment certification • Business Residence Permits • Employment Permits • Business licenses • Access to land Investment Services • Be the point of contact for investment start-up and link investors to necessary information • Issue investment certificates and facilitate end-to-end investment process, • Proactively work with investors to mitigate post-investment challenges and monitor compliance • Advise Government of Malawi on investor-friendly policies • Track and target existing investors for reinvestment opportunities Trade Promotion Services Identify export markets for existing and current export products Consolidate and expand market share for Malawi's current products in present export markets • Build capacity of exporters in export marketing
