On October 29, 1962, Edmundo F. Unson, Sr. together with other businessmen founded The Mercantile Insurance Co., Inc. The early years of Mercantile were spent in the bustling district of Escolta, Manila and five (5) years later, transferred to Juan Luna, Binondo. In 1975 it built and found its current home in the historic Walled City of Intramuros. Through the years, its volume of business grew and this necessitated the setting up of regional offices all throughout the Philippines. Through excellent service and a reputable and trustworthy style of business, Mercantile's insured amounts(Net Premiums) grew from P400M in 2014 to over P1.4B in 2018, greatly exceeding industry growth standards and showing just how much trust clients have with Mercantile. As a long-standing company and counting itself a subsidiary of Camerton Holdings, Mercantile Insurance has proven itself as a solid insurance partner, allowing customers to sleep well at night knowing their valuable assets are in good hands.
