Native Animal Rescue Inc. (NAR) is based in Malaga and has been operating as a Registered, Non for profit organisation since 1982. Since 2009, NAR membership has risen from 150 to 1,570 registered members in 2016. Over 280 volunteers contributed more than 28,000 plus hours of volunteer time towards work with native animals, research, conservations, student education, and training with at-risk youth programs. Volunteering hours equates to over $700,000.00 of dedicated volunteer time delivering services to the community. Animal Admissions: 1821 animal admissions were received into the centre last year with the majority of them being birds. Since the signing of an MOU between NAR and over 27 Veterinarian partners over 600 animals have been collected using the NAR Van. Approximately 170,000 kilometres have been travelled collecting wildlife from these Veterinarian practices. This service provides the community with safe drop off points where animals are treated for injuries. Admission, retrieval, and care of individual animal are costed at over $135.00 per animal, in 2015-16 of the 1821 animals admitted.
