Oriental Energy Resources Limited
Oriental Energy (Oriental) is a privately held indigenous oil and gas exploration and production company with a primary focus on Nigeria. Founded in 1990 to take advantage of the government's increasing focus on indigenous participation in the upstream oil and gas sector, Oriental was granted Block OPL224 offshore Nigeria in 1991. Over the past 20 years, Oriental has successfully converted OPL224 into OML 115 and expanded its portfolio to include both the Okwok and Ebok assets. Following an aggressive exploration and drilling program, and the largest development program for an independent Nigerian oil company to date, the Ebok Field achieved First Oil in the 2nd quarter of 2011. Development work is well advanced at the Okwok field, while exploration activity continues at OML 115 and the company has developed an offshore production hub centered on the Ebok asset, which will be capable of supporting production operations across the company's full portfolio of assets. As a supporter of the Nigerian domestic oil industry, Oriental adheres to strong ethical EHSS policies and is a considerable contributor to the empowerment of our local host communities. Oriental is particularly focused on supporting the development of the next generation of Nigerian Petroleum Engineers and enhancing local technical capabilities.
