panCELLa

Incorporated in August 2015, panCELLa was founded by Dr. Andras Nagy and Dr. Armand Keating based on Dr. Nagy’s ground-breaking work in the area of stem cell research. In June 2005, Dr. Nagy established Canada's first human embryonic stem cell lines. On March 1st, 2009, Dr. Nagy once again captured the world's attention with another stem cell research breakthrough: the discovery of a new non-viral method of creating stem cells from other cells of the body that could lead to possible cures for devastating diseases including spinal cord injury, macular degeneration, diabetes, Parkinson's disease and many other degenerative diseases. Dr. Keating's clinical and research interests focus on anti-cancer cell therapy, blood and marrow transplantation, leukemia, lymphoma and regenerative medicine. He has conducted laboratory and translational research in cell therapy, normal and malignant hematopoiesis, and on the biology and clinical application of marrow mesenchymal stromal cells. Through panCELLa, Dr. Keating and Nagy are seeking to create an effective cell therapy derived from stem cells, which are modified to provide a sufficient and very high level of safety before and after the cells are introduced to the patient. As panCELLa’s founding Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Nagy, often cites Vandyke’s quote “Man is the only creature that dares to light a fire and live with it. The reason? Because he alone has learned to put it out.” As with fire, panCELLa “dares” to use stem cells as a therapeutic tool because they alone have developed a “Fail-Safe Cell System” to control deregulated cell division, eliminating the risk of cells going awry.
