Piaggio Group Americas
Piaggio Group Americas, Inc., ("PGA") subsidiary headquartered in New York was established in 1998, under the name Piaggio USA Inc., as a distributor of Piaggio Group's products in the US market. During the first few years of operations, PGA focused solely on the distribution of scooters (and the associated spare parts and accessories). Following Piaggio Group's acquisition of Aprilia at the end of 2004, PGA merged with Aprilia's US distribution subsidiary, Aprilia World Services USA, Inc. with effect January 1, 2006, and shortly thereafter changed its name to PGA. Following the Aprilia acquisition, PGA began distributing motorcycles under the Aprilia and Moto Guzzi brands. Prior to the Aprilia acquisition, Piaggio USA was headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, while Aprilia was based in Atlanta, GA. To facilitate the operational merger of the two entities, both companies relocated to New York City in 2005. As of January 2006, all US employees of the combined US companies were based in New York with the exception of the technical support group and part of Marketing that are now located in Costa Mesa, California. On December 18, 2009, PGA purchased from Piaggio S.p.A. ("SPA") the distribution rights for the Canadian and South and Central America regions. As a result, PGA also distributes Piaggio-branded products in these markets. PGA selects specific models suitable for United States, Canada, and Latin American markets from SPA's full product portfolio. Under the Piaggio, Vespa, Aprilia, and Moto Guzzi brands, PGA distributes scooters and motorcycles with engine sizes ranging from 50cc to 1400cc along with spare parts and accessories, all imported from Piaggio S.p.A.
