Prison Advice and Care Trust (Pact)
The Prison Advice and Care Trust, known as Pact, is a national charity in the UK dedicated to supporting prisoners, individuals with convictions, and their families. Established in 1898, Pact has evolved from its origins as the Catholic Prisoners Aid Society and merged with the Prisoners' Wives and Families Society in 2001. The organization aims to assist those affected by imprisonment at every stage of the criminal justice process, promoting a vision of justice that emphasizes restoration and healing. Pact offers a variety of services across over 60 prisons in England and Wales. These include prison support during incarceration and upon release, a dedicated helpline for families, and community support to help individuals reintegrate into society. Their approach incorporates public health principles to address the challenges faced by those affected by imprisonment. Pact focuses on delivering impactful services, such as rehabilitation programs, family support initiatives, and assistance with employment and housing, to facilitate positive outcomes for their clients.
