Sacramento County

Planning and Environmental Review is a division within the Community Development Department. We plan and sustain a built and natural environment that is reflective of our diverse population while protecting quality of life, the environment, and promoting equity. Our Division is comprised of four sections: • Current Planning implements the General Plan, Zoning Ordinance and manages development in unincorporated Sacramento County. • Zoning Administration provides technical services and general planning to the public at the front counter, as well as review of building permits and business licenses. • Environmental Review prepares environmental documents pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) for privately and publicly initiated projects in Sacramento County. • Long Range Planning develops the vision, goals, and policies for urban growth and the protection and preservation of natural and agricultural resources.
