R&D Tax Incentive The Research and Development (R&D) tax incentive was introduced by the Australian Taxation Office as a way of encouraging eligible companies to innovate and conduct research activity that benifts Australia. For qualifying companies with a turnover of less than $20 million there is a refundable tax offset of 45%(which is equivalent to a 150% deduction). All other entities can receive a non-refundable tax offset of 40% (which is equivalent to a 133% deduction). Business Grants In addition to the generous R&D Tax Incentive, there are a number of other grants and funding available for companies through various sources.
