SOMMERBLUT, the „Festival of Multipolar Culture", sees itself as an inclusive cultural festival that combines different social and political points of view and identities. The concept of inclusion is deliberately broadly defined here: physical and cognitive characteristics, forms of life, value systems, traditions, beliefs – everything that determines the identity of every human being and the daily discourse in our society. The festival invites you to a change of perspective, in the direction of a cross-border, courageous art and culture. In the festival year 2021, SOMMERBLUT will focus on NATURE. We will encounter nature with all its facets and opposites. Between growth and decay, harmony and chaos, vulnerability, and the regeneration of resources. From May 7th till May 24th, 2021, we will have a look into the climate crisis and topics related to it like migration and globalization. We will ask about our relationship to nature and celebrate the variety of the human body by looking for the power and the beauty of nature in its diversity: In lots of different identities and points of view as well as in body images far away from common ideals of beauty. Sommerblut will bring nature onto the stages of the city as well as theatre into nature. In-house productions, guest performances from dance, theatre and performance dedicate themselves towards the wonders and the wounds of our planet but also to our direct surroundings.
