St Mary's Football Club
St. Mary's Football Club was founded by a group of parents in Glengormley, Newtownabbey. It all began in the year 1996, with just one team. Amongst those who formed the club was current Club President Frank Wilson who has been the driving force behind the club ever since. It all began as a local football club centred around the St. Mary's on the Hill Parish in Glengormley. As Glengormley and the Parish grew the demand for a home club from Glengormley was greatly needed as many local players were finding themselves travelling to play football. This demand for a local club can be seen in the clubs significant growth in the last 18 years to almost 350 players and 60 coaching staff and volunteers. The Club is a recognised charity and is run by a committee which consists of a President, Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Child Protection Officer and other members. There is also a Football Committee and a Fundraising Committee. With age groups from Under 8's right up to Under 19 and the new formation of a Senior Team the club has played football in many competitions throughout the years. The South Belfast Youth League has been the main competition for the club who have had the majority of teams participating in this league during our fine history. Outside of the South Belfast Youth League, St. Mary's have competed in the Belfast and East Antrim League, the North Down League and also the National League.
