The Essex Spartans American Football Organisation
The Essex Spartans American Football Organisation have been bringing grassroots American Football to the men and women of Essex for more than 25 years. Founded formerly as the Essex Spartans AFO in 1988 and initially coached and managed by the late Tony Palmer, the Essex Spartans has expanded to fully-coached Senior team for men aged 19 and over, led by former Spartan O-lineman and Hall of Famer Sean Benton, and a thriving Academy for male and female youngsters offering Under17s and Under-19s playing opportunities, under the tutelage of former Spartans QB Steve Watson. A solid and high-functioning back room is maintained by a committee of 8 volunteers, responsible for the safety and welfare of our players, commitment to the BAFA League and providing opportunities within the local community, amidst a wealth of other responsibilities. "Dear Lord, The battles we go through in life, we ask for a chance that's fair; a chance to equal our strides, a chance to do or dare. If we should win, let it be by the code, with faith and honour held high. If we should lose, let us stand by the road, and cheer as the winners go by. DAY BY DAY WE GET BETTER AND BETTER UNTIL WE CAN'T BE BEAT! WE WONT BE BEAT! " ROLL TIDE
