Alternative Finance Lab (AltFinLab) is a flagship UNDP initiative advancing alternative finance, emerging technologies, and innovation for sustainable development. The Lab works with UNDP teams, governments, civil society, research institutions, and private-sector and technology partners to help development actors assess where new finance and technology approaches can add public value, and how promising models can move toward responsible implementation. Across areas such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, digital payments, crowdfunding, impact investing, climate and nature finance, and emerging financial instruments, UNDP AltFinLab focuses on the practical conditions that shape adoption: institutional readiness, financing models, partner alignment, evidence from real settings, and implementation capacity.
