UniServices
UniServices is a not-for-profit company of the University of Auckland that champions research and ideas with the power to change the world. From seeking out and bringing together partners in academic institutions, industry and government to build new knowledge and solutions through research; to whakatupu (nurturing) and commercialising the ideas and intellectual property that arise from the University of Auckland's great minds, we act as the kaihono (those who join and link people to people, and people to projects) firmly entrenched in the ecosystem that bridges the world of academia with business, government and our communities. One thing that makes us distinctive is the growing portfolio of business units and projects that we use to translate cutting-edge knowledge into impact. Built on evidence-based research, these offerings are recognised in their own names as leaders in their field, delivering social, health and economic benefits through education, public health, innovation and informing public policy. We also manage the University of Auckland Inventors' Fund, which is a pre-seed and seed stage investment fund for transforming university intellectual property and research into high-growth global companies. This is a key tool in our successful commercialisation of start-ups, alongside our investment committees (named Return on Science) that we make available nation-wide for research institutions and businesses with commercial ideas, as well as the student investment committees (named Momentum) that we have built up and down the country to open doors and develop capability for students on both sides of the investment table.
