Grass straws are made from Lepironia Articulata (Water Grass), an edible, non-toxic, and naturally occurring plant. Our grass straws come from the tropical wetlands of Vietnam where they are handpicked by local farmers, cut, cleaned, dried, sterilized, and packaged. Grass straws are 100% biodegradable and garden compostable, unlike plastic that takes hundreds of years to decompose. As a plant they act to reduce carbon dioxide in the air and when composted return to the earth as part of a natural cycle. Further, the planting of water grass helps preserve the natural ecosystem of the Mekong Delta.
