Vehicle Control Technologies, Inc.
VCT specializes in underwater vehicle design and control. We have been serving the US Navy market since 1993 with hydrodynamic analysis and design expertise on towed systems, torpedoes, swimmer delivery vehicles, unmanned underwater vehicles, underwater gliders, and submarines. Our core technology is a hydrodynamic simulation capability that has designed more than 350 vehicles and been validated against data from more than a hundred different vehicles, and a core value is a quantitative engineering, simulation-based approach to making vehicle design decisions and tradeoffs. We designed and currently support the autopilot for two US Navy systems, the AQS-20 minehunting system, and the AMNS mine neutralization system. Our services include: • Underwater vehicle hydrodynamic design, analysis, and simulation • Vehicle control system design to increase performance of existing vehicles • Hydrodynamic test (wind tunnel/tow tank) planning and execution • Rapid prototyping and testing of innovative vehicle concepts for new applications VCT has developed three products that are available for sale: • HarborScan 7.5" UUV – Coastal survey vehicle with integrated Klein 3500 side scan sonar, INS+DVL navigation, acoustic and satellite communications, and field swappable tail cone • Underwater UUV Docking System – Towed vehicle designed for underwater capture of a UUV for recovery • Powered Tow Body – A steady towed vehicle with a propeller that flies formation with the towing craft – the shape of the cable decouples the tow body from the motion of the ship
