Virtual Cheese Awards
The brainchild of Sarah de Wit and Nigel Pooley who are both passionate about cheese and the industry, have a love of cheese awards and share a focus of continuous improvement. With a lot of experiences now going on-line they have embraced technology to hold the UK's first Virtual Cheese Awards. The lockdown has severely affected the business of many specialist cheese makers & the fear is some may not be able to weather this storm. All profits will be donated to charities supporting these dairies, makers and Farmers. We hope that all involved with the Cheese Industry will want to support us in any way they can either with participation in some of the Judging introduction events, sponsorship opportunities and of course all cheesemakers of all sizes from the biggest to the smallest family Artisan Maker by entering your finest cheese. Sarah De Wit (Photo) I'm a food technologist with manufacturing & major retail experience of almost 30 yrs. Having worked successfully at Asda for over 16 years within the Cheese category I'm truly & utterly passionate about cheese & the dairy industry. However, for the past 2 years I have run my own business, a key focus for me is helping dairies with on-going quality improvement, grading & NPD. Nigel Pooley I am a lifelong dedicated Dairy person with 57 years continuous working in the Industry starting in Cheese in 1963 at David stow and the last 23 + years at Wyke Farms and still working part time with my 74thBirthday later this month. For the past 30 years I have been involved with Cheese Shows and the past 20 years Chairman of local Cheese Award Shows so have it in my blood and to be honest with Coronavirus was beginning to miss the buzz associated with entering our best cheese and waiting in anticipation for the Judging at the Cheese Shows from May until September to see how our entries have done.
