WWF Greece
WWF Greece was founded at 1990. WWF's mission is to conserve the rich biodiversity of Greece as an integral part of the Mediterranean, to prevent and eventually reverse its environmental degradation, seeking the harmonious co-existence between humans and nature. This is achieved through its conservation programme, which is structured in two main axes: (A) Biodiversity and (B) Footprint reduction. The five main fields of action are: Fieldwork, Policy, Civil society engagement, Business engagement and Scientific support & documentation. Since its inception the organisation has designed and implemented over 70 projects for the conservation of freshwater, marine and forest ecosystems of Greece, ranging from field research and monitoring of species and habitats, to environmental education and capacity building. WWF Greece has also carried out considerable policy work that has contributed to the improvement of the Greek State's environmental legislation and attitude.
