Yunta Perú
Yunta is a non-profit organization in Lima and Arequipa that provides a group mentoring program focused on the emotional development of children in vulnerable situations based on the strengthening of self-esteem, development of social skills and a sense of possibility. Our mentoring approach is the group one since it is through the close relationship that each child establishes with their mentor in an environment shared with other children and mentors, where we seek to help them learn, learn by doing and find a solution together, the experience shared by others in the dynamics, activities and tasks provides a great added value which is the sense of community. Our association with Youth Mentoring Connection allows us to have a support of this mentoring methodology because in its experience of more than 10 years it has managed that the apprentices involved in the program increase their self-esteem, increase school attendance and obtain better grades in the same, develop a greater interest and potential to attend college; as well as improving their relationship with their parents and other authority figures. Currently, Yunta has been awarded as one of the 20 finalists at the national level in the UPC - Youth Action Net contest "Protagonistas del Cambio" (2014). It has also been selected in the "Innovation for Humanity" called by Johns Hopkins University (USA) and Centrum Escuela de Negocios PUCP (Peru) to receive the advice of consultants-students of the Global MBA of the Johns Hopkins - Carey Business School since September 2014 to January 2015.
