We work with families in Sub-Saharan Africa through our partner to help them become self sustaining. Because it takes 2 trees to hang a hammock, Madera plants 2 trees for each hammock sold. Through our partnering with Trees for the Future, to date we have planted 10,000 trees and counting. Together, we are improving the livelihoods of impoverished farmers by revitalizing degraded lands. Madera Outdoor Co. projects include support to the countries of Ethiopia, Cameroon, Kenya, Senegal, Uganda and Tanzania where entire forests have been cut down leaving the population subject to the effects of flooding, resulting in much of the remaining farmland washing away. Working within schools, we can directly educate children in agroforestry practices that they may use on their farms one day.
