Global, privately held real estate investment, development and management company. Hines manages Amazon's property portfolio in North & South America, and I'm building a world-class procurement team to manage that very large spend. I'm focused on creating capability, building policies and processes, finding opportunities to do things better and faster for the client and saving money on the way. I'm also building a best-in-class vendor management function to make sure Amazon gets the best out of its carefully selected supply base.

Highly acquisitive, global information company supporting global brands in the digital marketplace. Revenue $540m. Led on procurement for North America, as well as global procurement for $50m of Professional and Corporate Services. Delivered multiple global procurement programs. Drove key stakeholder communications, ensuring buy-in. • Led supply chain integration of 2 recently acquired US businesses. Established procurement policy, implemented compliance controls, and rationalized the supply base, reducing risk and delivering cost savings. • Restructured travel management procurement, transforming a costly, globally fragmented and poorly controlled cost center into a high performing area, with high stakeholder satisfaction • Reengineered procurement strategy for recruitment services by appointing a panel of recruiters and implementing standard terms, delivering improved service levels, reduced risk, and minimizing costs. • Implemented tools to improve team analytical capabilities, including the development of a detailed spend taxonomy, supplier risk management tools for complex geographies.

Provider of specialist health services. PE majority-owned. Revenue $370m. Hired on a fixed term consultant to deliver procurement transformation program as part of a corporate financial turnaround. Created procurement capability and identified key issues. Developed and implemented a program of cost savings. Led a team of 8 staff. • Developed and implemented aggressive category strategies to manage direct and indirect spend of $120m. • Delivered total spend visibility across a complex, dispersed organization, enabling the implementation of financial controls. • Renegotiated critical supply contracts in preparation for divestment of part of the business. • Developed training and mentoring programs, improving skills and increasing staff retention.

Global provider of outsourced public services. Revenue $4bn. Hired on a fixed term contract to turnaround indirect procurement function managing Corporate Services spend of $450m. Revised targets not previously achieved, and developed a supporting program of change. Performance managed team of 10 procurement professionals, developed skills and introduced a culture of accountability. • Delivered turnaround of team performance, meeting a revised target of $50m cost saving. Revised and reprioritized strategies of the Category Managers identifying an additional $18m savings. • Instigated a successful legal claim against a supplier for overcharging, valued at $1m.

Grocery and general merchandise retailer with 3,000 stores nationally and online retail bank. Revenue $35bn. Member of the Finance senior leadership team, appointed to lead a team of 50, high performing Procurement staff. Spearheaded incremental improvements program for $3bn of direct and indirect costs. Performance managed staff and promoted a culture of continued professional development, resulting in a world-class, award-winning team. Reported to Group CFO. Seconded to role as Head of Investor Relations. Partnered CEO and Chairman to develop the Sainsbury’s equity story and communicate it to the global investment community through a program of meetings. • Delivered annual savings of $90m; $16m over the target. • Coached buyers on negotiation strategy and co-chaired critical supplier interactions. • Implemented an innovative Supplier Relationship Management program with 60 key suppliers, focused on delivering innovation and shared financial benefit.

Projects included: Barclays - Carried out a review of the efficacy of in-branch customer communications and successfully proposed an alternative digital engagement strategy to be included in the “Branch of the Future” rollout. Department of Health - Completed an economic review of the supply market in a number of complex clinical categories, including dementia care, obesity care, stroke care and palliative care. Developed sourcing strategies to increase supply-side competition.

Promoted from Senior Consultant to Manager within first year. Led a number of client engagements, ranging from small, specialist teams, to very large multi-disciplinary teams. Engagements covered varied sectors, but focused on healthcare. Subject areas included corporate strategy, economic market assessment, supply chain management and collaborative procurement.

Responsible for the global spend in professional and HR services. • Delivered multi-million dollar savings across the category, primarily through the global implementation of an LMS and the restructuring of classroom based training to a focus on eLearning • Led the effort for the wider category team on an Oracle P2P implementation, including approval workflows, controls and delegated authorities
