I retired from government service with effect from December 2019, after a 37 year career in the Indian Revenue Service.
As Member CBDT, I was responsible for tax policy and legislation, including all administrative and policy aspects of international taxation and transfer pricing.
In this role I was overall incharge of the administration of international taxation and transfer pricing in India.
In this role I functioned as the Competent Authority under India's tax treaties. Led India's participation in the G20/OECD BEPS project during 2013-2015 and was able to bring about a greater understanding globally of India's position on various tax issues. Launched and shepherded India's Advance Pricing Agreement (APA) programme and developed strong relationships with other Competent Authorities, which enabled resolution of a large number of tax disputes between India and other countries.
