Shumba started life as the only fully Batswana controlled Coal resource development company in Botswana. Since the Botswana Stock Exchange & Stock Exchange of Mauritius listings the SCL Board and Management has focussed on driving the development up the value chain of its major assets and also in 2015 re-named the company Shumba Energy Ltd (SEL) as a true reflection of its vision and purpose. Today, SEL has reached the stage where it has Three major energy fuel (Thermal Coal) assets developed to the PFS (Prefeasibility) stage for production along with the associated planned Mine Mouth Independent Power Plants and power transmission studies also at the same stage. Additionally, all the ancillary studies and permitting required to proceed to full BFS (Bankable Feasibility) stage has been received from the Botswana Government authorities and this BFS work has begun at Mabesekwa and Sechaba. Recently SEL acquired Coal Petroleum and intends to construct with strategic partners Power China & WISON a 25000bpd CTL plant on our Mabesekwa site.
