My current role centres on co-determining strategic vision as a member of the Board and executive team. This has included creating and analysing business initiatives to provide insight into the company’s operations and business plans, together with aligning resources to underpin sustainable growth, which I do by defining team structure, determining pricing initiatives and shaping strategies that facilitate international expansion. The role also includes directing all aspects of financial operations, cash control, accounting and inventory management, which encompasses executing £8M fundraising through equity with VC funds and HNWIs, as well as alternative forms of financing such as venture and traditional debt. Related to this, I oversee accounting activities and ensure good governance and compliance with regulatory requirements in the management of financial systems, internal controls, VAT optimisation and R&D tax credits. I also compile reports, budgets and forecasts to enable strategic and tactical recommendations for the business. Separately, I inform data-driven decision-making in relation to investment generation and operations management. To date, this has included providing interim COO cover to manage product sourcing, manufacturing, supply chain and logistics, negotiate payment terms with suppliers, control working capital, and maintain business continuity against external factors such as Brexit. I am also pleased to have been able to achieve growth and realising profitability through margin improvements and cost efficiencies, and I determine KPIs and analysing subscription metrics to track performance and returns on marketing strategy. Finally I am particularly pleased to have been able to steer the end-to-end M&A process, including producing investment materials and models, pitching to potential buyers, conducting due diligence, and leading legal negotiations that resulted in the successful sale of toucanBox to SandBox&Co.
