The Tail Management or Low Volume Portfolio was a challenge position full of opportunities. The APV was between 8.2M with 330 Suppliers and 2,092 components. In this portfolio we deal with unique suppliers, obsolete material, worn tool, financial trouble supplier, credit hold, lost tools, service liability, no history of purchase, end of life. Major Roles: Provide immediate support to emergencies, addressed issues with no disruption to production plants, Management of commercial issues ,Monitor & lead tool moves, Exiting suppliers by rightsizing or consolidating, Insourcing & Outsourcing, develop new suppliers for service parts, localize, create business cases to customers, Quality Supports to plants, Quality approvals & deviations. The Commodities I handle under the Low Volume portfolio were: -Functional Plastic Parts -Decorative Plastic Parts -Metal parts /Stamping -Wiring Harness -Connection Systems -Resin -Chemicals -Labels -Rubber & Die -Specific Assemblies -Fasteners -Springs -Casting -Small Portion of Electrical Parts. Other Activities: -Business Cases analysis to understand liability against profitability -Lead Special Projects ( Rightsizing supplier base, Localize, Exit financial trouble suppliers ) Accomplishments: • Resource 32 suppliers to our category approved suppliers • Manage end of life/last time buys for 11 suppliers • Negotiate with Customer to relief from scorecard penalties • Develop 3 NEW plastic supplier • Saving $654,800 ( Tooling avoid) • Asses suppliers to combine/modify existing tools to reduce an excessive spend on a new tool for service components. A very challenge Portfolio in which I also gain lots of knowledge in the different commodities.
Develop Top 10 Worst Suppliers thru QFS (Quality Focus Supplier), audit suppliers and initiate projects to reduce suppliers PPM’s and Problem Cases. Overall control for: • Assist in supplier training: Customer Specific Requirement procedure • Perform supplier audits Manufacturing Capability Assessment (MCA) and Perform process audits on problem suppliers. • Develop & graduate local/existing suppliers using Quality Focus Supplier Program (QFS) • Participate in teams to organize; qualify and transfer of existing tools to suppliers. • Monitor supplier performance: In coordination with AQE work with Top concern suppliers to reduce incoming PPM, supplier rework and scrap, and improve PPAP submittal performance and responsiveness. • Assist in resourcing of problem suppliers: Submit “New business Hold” letter to purchasing and objective documentation on problem suppliers who fail to provide products at acceptable PPM levels, on time, or fail to respond to Delphi concerns and request for corrective actions and containment • Supplier APQP: Work with AQE and identified suppliers in the supplier APQP activity to support new product launches.
