My Daughter was diagnosed to be profoundly deaf at birth. This devastating news introduced me to the deaf world and deaf culture. I then passed Stage1 in British Sign Language though my daughter chose not to sign! I soon learned that some deaf people actually see there deafness as NOT a disability but a Culture with its own language. My daughter inspired me to qualify as an Audiologist and helped me empathise with the issues surrounding deafness.
