Annie Bryan

From the company announcement: * Annie Connell-Bryan, currently a digital strategy editor on the homepage team, will become planning editor. It may come as a surprise to some of you that Annie was not already planning editor; since the fall, few people at POLITICO have done as much to bring order and clarity to our work. After the 10/7 Hamas attack on Israel, Annie launched a pop-up coverage planner that coordinated our swirling reporting efforts on that horrific event and the war it ignited. That challenging job morphed into a new and broader assignment on news coordination. Annie was an architect of the unified story budget; on a daily basis she has helped organize story targets, map out coverage lines and devise the ledes list with Anita, Grace and others. As planning editor, Annie will have an expanded mandate as an editorial decision-maker. She will also work closely with our audience team to build a more intentional strategy around publication timing to increase audience reach and engagement. While we have greatly improved our news planning process, we still need to integrate large sections of our operation into a coherent and comprehensive system. Ultimately, we will need to make it work on a global scale. Annie will be an engine of that long-term effort.
