Epoch was an investment bank incubated by major online trading platforms: Charles Schwab, Ameritrade, TD Waterhouse which in aggregate represented $1.5 trillion of buying power (client assets). We discovered that online investors were willing to pay 2-4x more for IPOs through our online bidding platform vs. institutional investors. We posed a major threat to traditional underwriters who control pricing for new equities. I was a founding employee and jack-of-all-trades (business development, product development, equity research & market analysis). Epoch was acquired by Goldman Sachs for $232 million.
