After 25 years in retail, buying successful Knitwear, Jersey wear and Swimwear ranges, I now offer my expertise as an independent knitwear Consultant and also offer training on both knitwear and jersey wear. I offer 1 day training courses, in both knitwear and jersey wear, specifically designed for industry professionals, in particular Buyers, Designers and Garment Technologists, who would like to gain a better understanding of fabric and product development processes. Areas covered in the knitwear course; - Yarn qualities and dyeing methods - Identification of different knit structures ( hands on) - Knitwear terminology - Machines and guages used in production globally - Methods of garment make up - Trims, zips and pocket techniques and application - Problems on knitwear - A session showing an industrial knitting machine at work and a linking demonstration. Areas covered in the Jersey wear course; - Fibre and yarn properties, the spinning process and yarn counts - Different methods of dyeing jersey - Knitting characteristics - Machines used to knit jersey fabrics and gauges - A range of jersey fabrics structures discussed with hands on identification - Print methods, including special finishes - Embellishment, embroidery and pleating techniques - Finishing processes - Garment construction and trim application - Special garment finishes - Problems on jersey I am also available for consultancy projects on knitted product categories working within retail buying offices, in particular developing Buyers in product development, ranging, critical path and supply chain management.
