As a Regional Manager, l am responsible for managing and developing the fundraising strategy, both public and private in Latin America with focus in five countries: Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia y Mexico in order to increase the RoI (Return of Investment) of Fundraising in alignment with the global FR Strategy. I lead a regional team and work in collaboration with the Regional Executive Director and the Head of External Relations to meet the financial goals set by the organization. The worldwide funding goal for DNDi is to secure €650 million by 2023. To date, DNDi secured €415 million. As part of the regional management team, I am part of the development of the regional strategy in collaboration with the regional executive director ensuring the achievements and development of DNDi in the region in the context of the current business plan. Established in 2003 Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) is a not-for-profit research and development (R&D) organization that develops new, improved, and affordable medicines for deadly neglected diseases that afflict over 1 billion people in the poorest regions of the world. DNDi focuses on discovering and developing treatments for sleeping sickness (human African trypanosomiasis), Chagas disease, leishmaniasis, filarial infections, pediatric HIV, mycetoma, hepatitis C and antimicrobial resistance. DNDi’s objective is to deliver 16 to 18 new treatments to patients suffering from neglected diseases by 2023. DNDi accomplishes its work through a collaborative partnerships approach with public sector research institutions, particularly in disease-endemic countries, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, academia, non-governmental organizations, and governments worldwide. It also works to strengthen research capacity in disease-endemic countries and to advocate for increased public responsibility for neglected disease R&D.
