As the manager of the Public Cloud Services team at Twitter I have the privilege of working with a team of SREs and SWEs chartered with two primary objectives. First, our team works with other teams at Twitter to extend the Twitter platform to the public cloud. Second, we coordinate with internal development teams to leverage differentiated offerings from public cloud providers - doing so in a way that is secure, reliable, supportable, and repeatable.
As a Senior SRE on the Public Cloud Services team I was able to leverage my experience and familiarity with Twitter's on-premises infrastructure to bring value to the team while developing expertise with the Google Cloud Platform, culminating in the design and initial development of an internal service that allows Twitter's internal GCP users to interact with Google's Deployment Manager while ensuring compliance with security and audit controls.
During my time on the CISS team at Twitter, I made significant improvements to the kerberos infrastructure including upgrades to the latest upstream versions, security improvements, and the first site-to-site fail over of the kerberos master. I developed expertise in puppet, did a deep dive into NTP to establish SLAs, and was a member of the team responsible for the initial roll-out of Splunk to support a centralized logging initiative. After a little over a year on CISS, I transferred to the Public Cloud Services Team.
