I am well versed in the unique challenges U.S. military family members’ face, and specifically the issues the military children are dealing with due to prolonged separations and deployments. I successfully raised our son alone, while his father, over the course of a twenty-year career span which included serving as a Reconnaissance Marine, was repeatedly deployed around the world and into combat situations. As a result of twenty-eight years’ experience in the defense arena, I have had the honor to serve first for eight years as the Volunteer Chief Executive Officer for Military Children’s Charity, Incorporated, (M.C.C.), and now for another term. Military Children’s Charity recognizes military children across all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. Also, Military Children’s Charity provides gifts year-round to bereaved American children who lost a parent in service to our nation. This role has been the greatest and most sacred honor of my career to date. To be able to serve as a constant reminder to these special families that the American public still cares about the sacrifice of their loved one to the cause of freedom.
