Long distance buses are the most common form of transportation in the developing regions of the world. In Latin America for example, it is estimated that 90%+ of all long distance voyages are done by bus. Squigg.ly provides streaming entertainment onboard buses and trains directly to a customers personal device and to on-board monitors (for those customers who don't have smart phones) via a local wifi (without requiring an internet connection). In addition the Squiggly system requires no intervention from drivers or onboard staff. Both entertainment and safety media can be streamed to passengers automatically. As a startup, I was responsible for many facets of the business including business development, investor relations, legals, sales, as well as hands-on software design and development, testing and delivery. I was personally responsible for designing the software architecture and implementing all core code using a variety of tools/languages.

REA is a market-leading online advertising business specialising in real estate throughout APAC. The company has a strong software delivery team that utilises Agile, Lean and Lean Startup methodologies. Reporting to the CTO, I was responsible for all software development activities for the Residential, Developer, Media and Commercial websites. This involved managing and coordinating multiple teams in different geographic locations including Australia, China and Italy, and managing the budgets, resources and schedules to ensure on-time, on-budget product deliveries to global markets. My teams were highly dynamic as required by market demands. The teams operated using Agile and Lean Startup techniques, including DevOps rotations and Build-Measure-Learn mantra to ensure rapid prototyping, release and delivery of key initiatives.
Lonely Planet is arguably the world's most successful travel publisher, printing over 100 million books in nine different languages; English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Chinese and Korean. The company has moved on from just publishing printed books to also providing their world-class travel guides on the web and via mobile applications. As Operations Manager for the Mobile & Innovation team, I was responsible the overall operation of the Lonely Planet Mobile application delivery team. This included resource management, budgeting, scheduling, vendor and contract management and coordinating activities of a mature, multidisciplinary Agile software development team. During the course of my tenure at Lonely Planet, we redeveloped the signature Lonely Planet iPhone City Guide applications, launched the 1000 Ultimate Experiences application for the first iPad release (at the invitation of Apple) and developed and released the Lonely Planet Phrasebooks for Android.
Tenzeng is a start-up company specialising in the creation and delivery of comprehensive, managed Location-based Services (LBS) for mobile carriers and service providers using both terrestrial and satellite communication systems. Tenzeng focus on LBS that offer global tracking, monitoring, and alarming meeting a range of market needs for safety, security and efficiency. As Managing/Technology Director, my core responsibilities were for company and technology direction, financing, market analysis, and industry liaising/networking.
