Aspen Surgical is a leading worldwide manufacturer of medical disposable products for the hospital and surgery center market. The company has approximately 1500 employees with facilities in Michigan, Puerto Rico, Arizona and Mexico. Aspen Surgical was acquired by the Audax Group in August of 2019 and has grown considerably since the original acquisition. 1) Successfully carved the business out from the former owner, Hillrom, on time and under budget 2) Acquired and fully integrated Beatty Medical (orthopedic disposables) including a shutdown of the headquarters location 3) Acquired Precept Medical (PPE) integrating the sales organization and rapidly investing in capital equipment and personnel to dramatically increase revenue and profit 4) Acquired and integrated Protek Medical Products, a globally recognized manufacturer of probe covers and needle guides for ultrasound and drapes for instruments. 5) Acquired and integrated BlueMed, a manufacturer of disposable shoe covers. 6) Acquired Stork, a manufacturer of labor and delivery products. 7) Drove digitization of organization allowing for transition to fully remote work capability and transition back to mixed on-site and remote work capability. In March 2022, Audax closed on a single-asset continuation fund to support additional investment in Aspen Surgical. “Since our initial investment in 2019, Aspen has experienced a period of extraordinary transformation, tripling the scale of the company by expanding geographic coverage, accelerating the introduction of innovative new products, and acquiring five complementary businesses,” said David Wong, Managing Director, Audax Private Equity. In November, 2022 Aspen acquired Symmetry Surgical to nearly double the size of the organization. Aspen is fully integrating Symmetry into Aspen systems and business processes.
